FAQ'S (Wedding FAQ's below)

- Will
my flowers be exactly as
shown?
While we will make
every effort to create the arrangement as shown, we do reserve the
right to make suitable substitutions. Due to a seasonal nature of
the flowers, some may not be available at the time of ordering.
If you require a specific flower or colour or vase, please advise us at
the time of ordering, otherwise we will make substitutions where
required. The value of your order will be filled as you requested.
- Can
I make a special request for something not shown?
Yes, we can take a
special order for you. If you would like something not shown, we
will create it for you. Please allow 24 - 48 hours for special requests.
- How
far in advance should I order flowers?
Flowers ordered by
1:00 p.m. will be delivered the same day. If you require a
specific arrangement of flowers, please allow 24 - 48 hours for us to
obtain the flowers.
Costs shown on
arrangements indicate the price for the arrangement as shown, including
the container. The costs not shown are: any delivery fees and
applicable taxes. PST & GST are applicable to flowers and
delivery charges.
- Can
I spend more or less than the price shown?
Usually, yes.
Because we make every order individually, we can tailor each to your
request. However, if it is something specific, like a dozen
roses, the price is set for 12 roses.
Delivery in the
village of Cookstown is $5.00, surrounding area charges vary according
to location.
Wedding Flowers
- How
far in advance should I contact a florist?
You should begin
contacting florists 6 - 8 months before your event. This will
give you sufficient time to compare designers, pricing, and personal
preferences. You may find a difference in pricing, but you
usually get what you pay for. Be sure you choose carefully.
- Will
you
work
within my budget?
We
will absolutely work within your budget. We do ask that you be
upfront about what your budget is as it does have an impact on the
suggestions we make for you.
- How
much
will
my flowers cost?
A
general rule of thumb suggests 10 - 20% of your wedding budget be
allocated to flowers. By sitting down with you and
discussing your needs, i.e., what kinds of flowers, bouquet sizing
and construction, jewels, ribbons, accents, etc., we can determine an
accurate cost for your wedding flowers. There are many
factors which can affect your price and these will be taken
into consideration when creating your quote. See below for an
estimation of various items.
- What
about
a
contract, deposit and payments?
We have a simple
contract that we give you along with your quote so you can know our
terms up front. Our deposit is 25% of your estimated total
(before taxes), and the balance is payable 2 weeks before your wedding
to allow for cheque clearing. Any last minute additions, i.e.
extra corsages, can be added using a credit card to pay.
- How
many weddings do you book per week?
Because we care
about attention to detail, and we want to make sure your wedding is
everything you hoped for, we limit our events to 2-3 per weekend,
depending on the sizes of the events. As such, it is important to
confirm your choice of McLachlan Floral Design as soon as you have made
your decision.
- Do
you have rental items available?
We have a number of
different items available as rentals: topiary trees, large silk
arrangements, pedestals and urns, backdrops, and a selection of
vases along with table linens, chair covers, napkins, etc.
- What
flowers do I choose?
Choose flowers that
you love! This is the one time you will actually carry
flowers. If you can't decide, bring your florist some pictures of
styles that appeal to you. We can help you narrow down your
choices. Be aware that choosing flowers that are out of season
can increase your costs.
- Who
gets what, and what goes where?
Of course, you get
the prettiest bouquet! Your attendants will often carry a smaller
version or a bouquet complimentary to yours. The groom will
wear a boutonniere, as will the other men in the bridal party.
Don't forget corsages for the Mothers, Grandmothers and any other
special women you would like to acknowledge. The Fathers and
Grandfathers will also get boutonnieres. Remember the M.C.,
minister/officiant, and anyone else significant to
you or your ceremony might be acknowledged with a
corsage/boutonniere. Flowers make the ceremony and reception area
gorgeous! Adorn the alter, line the aisle, and dress the front of
the church. At the reception put out centrepieces, large
arrangements set on pedestals can frame the head table or mark the
entrance doors. The guest book signing table, gift table, seating
table, and cake table can all be decorated with floral arrangements as
well. If you have a buffet or sweets table, add some flowers
there, too. A pretty, considerate touch is to have a little
arrangement in the ladies room. These are just some ideas to get
you started!
